About Me

My photo
My name is Julie, I have a wonderful husband, four daughters and one grand daughter. I have a passion for design and sewing. I grew up watching my Nana sew and longed to "sew" in her shoes, but not until now did I have the resources to make my dreams come true! I will be sharing all that I've learned and will definately answer any questions! I've been sewing custom outfits and now that I have a following, I felt it was time to share more. There is a link to my website in the sidebar, where you can purchase my clothing. I mainly design/sew children's clothes but recently have begun to branch out into teens, and women's clothing. I have been inspired by so many amazing women and links to those will be in the sidebar. Some of my clothing is made from ideas or patterns from these wonderful ladies. But I also have my own original designs. Thanks for stopping by! Julie

Just A Little Update

I hate to whine in public..but uh ..I'm going to. I have been sick for two weeks! I did go to the Dr, but it's a double ear infection; so it will take awhile to feel better. I can't hear a flippin thing..well with the exception of every internal noise your own body can make. Who knew eating was so gal darn noisy?

The worst part is not having the energy to take what's in my head and make it sew! A day without sewing is so strange to me. I've made a few things..but I'm just so tired that I end up stopping or not even starting.

I'm still designing and one exciting thing is that I've added a few new lines from some fabulous designers! PST Design, MarieLynn Boutique are two that I just love! You couldn't meet two kinder people in the business! I'm proud to say we're doing business!

Another exciting tidbit is the line of organic products now in the store. Lady Emily was started in 2003 by a mom whose daughter Emily had severe allergies. It has since bloomed into a huge business with everything from bath and body to mineral makeup. I've tried a few items myself and so far they are great!

The store is exploding with fun, fresh things that I love!

And now let me grab my pillow and climb up on my soapbox.....

Even though I'm sick, I'm still scouring the web for products "made in the USA". I feel it's important now more than ever, that we support our economy and buy AMERICAN made! It's my goal to bring handmade home again!

New Designs

I'm really excited to be working on some new things! In the begining of my sewing adventure I was mainly interested in girl's boutique clothing. But now I'm finding that I LOVE desigining ladies clothing. I have a few new designs that I am still tweaking; they should be on the storefront soon!

My Picasa album is overflowing now! I really appreciate all the comments and it helps me to know what is popular and does influence my design. So keep up the comments!

In between all the sewing I managed to make some homemade bread, it was delish! Now if I could somehow find a gadget that could combine all my hobbies it would be awesome! So if you come across a camera/sewing machine/breadmaker let me know...lol

*awkward silence*

I know I'm a hobby nerd..it's okay.

Graduation Test

My second oldest daughter is graduating from high school today. I couldn't be prouder and I have my travel pack of kleenex ready to go. My dress is ready, my clutch purse is ready and my camera battery is fully charged. However, I will be putting my four year old through a graduation test.

Orignally, my hard working hubby was going to stay home with the little one....BUT graduation falls on Memorial Day weekend, which in turn made his employer put a regional ban on taking off work. Oh joy..thank you Mr. railroad manager. Maybe I should let HIM babysit a four year old in a colliseum for two hours!

Now don't get me wrong...maybe Pookie; as we affectionately call her will pass the graduation test with flying colors. OR quite possibly everyone of the numerous attendees will know her entire first, middle and last name by the time its all over.In which case I've been running all over the colliseum chasing her with her full name. This would indicate an epic fail on the graduation test.

OF course she will be exceptionally adorable no matter how she takes the test. I've made her a dress that has the same colors as mine. No doubt she'll be remembered in some way.

So, I'll let you know how the graduation test works out. I just hope she lasts long enough for me to take some video and pictures of my shiny star in the cap and gown.

* Pookie passed the Graduation test! *

Fun, Fabulous, Fast Knit Top

I was feeling creative and so I grabbed some knit fabric and went to work. I've had this knit for awhile but was waiting for just the right project. I've been wanting to make an off the shoulder top or dress for a long time.

I love ruffles, but ruffles and grownups don't always mix. You have to make the ruffles more modern. I think I managed to pull it off; I love this top! I serged all the edges and part of the ruffle. It gave it a shabby chic look that I adore!

This top is a medium and will be for sale when the store is up and running.

Precious Priviledge

So my "baby" is getting married.. * I hear crickets* as my mind tries to grasp this concept. A child I gave birth to will be walking down the aisle soon. However, at this point my sewing mind kicks in and takes on this project with great enthusiasm and vigor. I have dreams of ruffles, bows, and all the fu-fu I can muster.

Alas, my daughter and I are as different as day and night. While I'm allowed to have the precious privilege to take on this journey of love, I don't have artistic license. I'm not complaining, I'm just having to hold back and restrain the over zealous designer inside. My "baby" likes it all plain jane! No beading, no ruffles etc. I do get a bow...that makes me happy.

I have completed the muslin mock dress and she has tried it on. I felt a little pang in my heart when I put the veil on her. She's going to be a beautiful bride.
